SANTANA TROPHY 2016. Etapa #6. Foum Zghid-Ouarzazate

After some rest and a copious breakfast at Bab Rimal, and having finally passed the long marathon days from the previous stages, #‎TheGreatAdventure‬ has also left behind the fatigue that’s impossible to avoid when driving over sand and other difficult terrain. Today begins the last leg of the trip, which will end in Marrakech, ‘The Red City’.

Like most days, part of the morning is spent resolving mechanical problems, as there are still many kilometers ahead, so now is the time to leave everything in shape for the trip back to Europe. As the last repairs are solved, the teams start on their way towards the lat stop in the adventure. With no time controls there’s no competition, and the participants take their time to explore around, with the backup of the organization. Now they have time to enjoy the vastness of the Moroccan plains and their unending roads; to discover the Draa Valley and enjoy its hidden waterfalls and natural pools.

The pleasant drive takes them to Ouarzazate, where they will spend the night. The Moroccan Hollywood is the last great rest for these tireless travelers after the fatigue that comes from the sand ad the arid and abrupt valleys of the area. They’re staying at ‘Kenzi Azghor’ hotel, which proudly holds the best view around.

Tomorrow, the Santana Trophy family will take their Land Rover Series and Land Rover Santanas to their final stage, west through the National 9 towards Marrakech, crossing the Tizi n’ Tichka, the highest point in northern Africa at 2257 meters of altitude and which composes the Kashbah Route.
