Day 1
The classification was finally available at breakfast. The first place is taken by the Franco-spanish tema composed of Romain Rollet and Alberto Martínez in their Santana 88 #12.

The marathon began one team short, as the ‘Association Roastfrog’ team took their gasoline #LandRover 109 to a workshop to fix a problem with their alternator. It’s a real pity, because the landscape has changed completely, like the land their driving on.

On the way to the Oasis Mharech the participants were able to keep practicing their navigation and enjoy some more stretches of sand while getting a deeper knowledge of their loved vehicles and their special off-road qualities. After driving through the pass that finally gives way to the oasis, the cars crossed the Kem-Kem Plateau to Tagounite, taking the famous track used in the Dakar.

Today, the teams camp among stars, one of the high points of the journey. The camp placement in ‘Volcano’ brings the group closer together, and joint dinners made out of whatever everyone is carrying the Land Rovers are certainly a must here, in the middle of nowhere.

Day 2
The day starts strong with an orientation stage right after lifting camp. The classification changes again after none of the teams manages to complete if perfectly. They won’t know where they stand in it until the very end.

At the reagruption point, the French team Roasfrog rejoins the others on the way to second part of ‪#‎TheGreatAdventure Marathon. By mid-morning, they had reached the seas of sand surrounding the Erg Chegaga -kept soft from the very first hour of the day due to the high temperatures- that take them to the abandoned Land Rover that is a staple landmark in this area.

The gates to the Iriki Valley, where the teams begins the last stretch of today’s journey, are the real start of the Sahara desert, a national park placed right at the border with Argelia. They crossed the arid landscape in parallel formation, a fantastic ending to this stage organized by the organization with true effort and dedication.

The long Marathon stage is finally over when the teams reach the comfortable Bab Rimal in Foum Zghid. We’re completely sure everyone will enjoy their sleep in a real bed.
