Fin de trayecto. Los Land Rover Series y Santana afrontan la jornada final de #LaGranAventura con una travesía tranquila a través del sistema montañoso del Gran Atlas. Estampas áridas donde la protagonista indiscutible es la roca. Es en este marco, donde se alzan las originales construcciones fortificadas de tierra roja que se conocen como kasbahs. Aït-Ben-Haddou, es la más famosa de todas ellas y también una de las mejor conservadas. Una ruta ideal para la contemplación.
La Organización y algunos participantes –con ganas de llegar ya a Marrakech- escogían la más rápida: A través del Puerto del Tich´ka. Sin paradas. Este año en obras para quitar puntos peligrosos. El equipo valenciano ‘Charquito’, con dorsal #17, de Raúl Lorente y Estefanía Grau paraba a su salida para dar unos puntos de soldadura en su Santana.
El grueso de este raid homenaje, tomaba la ciudad roja de Marrakech a media mañana. Poco después, todos, hacían meta en el Hotel Marrakech Le Tich´ka. La segunda edición de #LaGranAventura volvía a llegar con la caravana integra a su destino. Esta noche disfrutarán del caos de esta bulliciosa ciudad, cuando pongan punto final a esta aventura tras la celebración de clausura del raid.
Ponen fin con un sencillo y discreto acto –línea que ya inauguraron en la edición anterior-. Ubicados en el mismo jardín recogen sus merecidos galardones. Romain Rollet y Alberto Martínez, el equipo franco español con dorsal #12, se hacía con el primer puesto de la clasificación. Rui Miguel Teixeira y Rui Amaro Andrade Teixeira, con su Lightweight 88 con dorsal #14 con el de ‘Mejor Espíritu de Equipo’ –que votan los propios participantes-. Dotados de sendos cheques regalo donados por Euro4x4Parts. El galardón patrocinado por Green&Gold –participantes también-, una dirección asistida restaurada, recaía en Marquis Guillaume y en Stephane Fernandez, el ‘Association Roastfrog’ con dorsal #21, por su Land Rover 109, ‘El mejor decorado’.
Mientras se entregan a la alegría por el reconocimiento de haber cumplido su objetivo, se ve claramente que la familia Santana Trophy crece. Tanto organización como participantes han doblado su número. Las historias personales de cada uno también se multiplican. Sin duda, la suma de las partes, es mayor que el ‘todo’. También se hace presente que los participantes de ayer, son la organización de hoy. Y que los de hoy, conformarán la de mañana. La que volverá sobre sus pasos y redescubra un territorio que casi un siglo después de las grandes gestas a motor sigue pareciendo inabarcable, aportando emoción e incertidumbre a cada participante, la de emprender un gran viaje. Su propio viaje.
Aquí en el final, estos aventureros de cinco nacionalidades distintas hablan el mismo idioma. El de sus incombustibles Land Rover. En palabras del propio artífice de esta fantástica aventura –Adolfo Avilés- “tras varios miles de kilómetros en estos duros de interior espartano, sin salpicadero ni guanteras y sin una concesión al lujo más allá de los tapizados de las puertas y del techo, todos –participantes y mecánicas- han demostrado que los coches de antes se hacían para durar, para ganar las pequeñas batallas del día a día en las carreteras y pistas de antes. De igual a igual en la guerra entre marcas. Un noble enfrentamiento por ver quien hacía los mejores y más resistentes vehículos”. Un espíritu que hoy perdura en la familia que ya es el Santana Trophy.

It’s the end of the journey. The Land Rover Series and Santana have reached the end of #TheGreatAdventure after a calm voyage through the mountains of the Great Atlas, where the landscapes are dominated by pure stone. This is where the original kashbahs were built, great red fortifications standing proud among the Moroccan rock. Aït Ben-Haddou is the most famous of them and one of the best well-kept. It’s a perfect place for contemplation.
Eager to reach the hotel in Marrakech, the Organization and some of the participants took the quick way through the Tichka Pass, with no stops. Thankfully, the recent renovations -still in course- have made the pass much more manageable. The Valencian team, ‘Charquito’ #17 with Raúl Lorente and Estefanía Grau stopped for a quick spot of soldering on their Santana, but thankfully this was a calm stage with no breakdowns.
The teams arrived at the Hotel Marrakech Le Tich’ka all throughout the morning. Once again, the second edition of Santana Trophy #TheGreatAdventure reached its final destination with a full caravan; tonight the participants will enjoy the lively caos of the city after the trophy ceremony.
It’s a simple and discreet act, similar to the one celebrated in the first edition and set in the same place, the lovely garden of the Hotel Marrakech Le Tich’ka. Romain Rollet and Alberto Martínez, the Franco-Spanish team #12 won the first prize in the raid classification. Rui Miguel Teixeira and Rui Amaro Andrade Teixeira, with their Lightweight 88 #14, won the ‘Best Team Spirit’ prize, voted by the participants. Both were given gift cards donated by Euro4x4Parts. The award sponsored by Green&Gold -who were also participants-, consisting in a restored power steering for their vehicle, landed on the French Marquis Guillaume and Stephane Fernandez, team ‘Association Roastfrog’ #21, for their Land Rover 109 as ‘Best Decorated’.
The teams are enjoying the moment at having finally arrived at their goal, and its clear the Santana Trophy family has grown. The organization and participants have doubled their numbers, and their stories and experiences have also multiplied. This time, the sum of the parts is certainly more than its whole. Like some of yesterday’s participants conform today’s staff, so will these hopefully come back in the future. There will be those who retrace their steps only to find out there’s always more to discover in this vast country, more journeys to be undertaken. A great journey for each.
In the end, these adventurers, coming from five different countries, talk the same language: the one spoken by their tireless Land Rover beasts. In the words of the maker of this fantastic adventure, Adolfo Avilés “after several thousand kilometres in these hard and spartan interiors, with no dashboard or glove box and with not one concession to luxury apart from door and ceiling upholstery, all of them -participants and cars- have demonstrated that before, vehicles were made to last, to win the small battles of each day on the roads and tracks of the old days. Equal to equal, car brand to car brand, in a noble confrontation to see who made the best and most resistant vehicles”. A spirit that still today persists in the Santana Trophy family.
